Omnimorphs trait system

Over the last few weeks, we have witnessed many discussions in our community around the topic of what makes certain Omnimorphs rarer than others.

We intend to answer this question with this article!

The system

The Omnimorphs trait system is quite complex, resulting in extra layers and axes of rarity.

The total number of possible variations is around 100 trillion (yes, trillion)! This huge number implies a very rich visual palette. As a result, many Omnimorph tokens will look very colorful and even chaotic at times (in a good way)!

While Omnimorphs will have standalone rare traits as well, which will look awesome on their own, we introduced set mechanics for rewarding consistency with rarity, and also to simply create a fun collectible experience.

Set mechanics for rewarding consistency

We decided to make visual consistency the primary axis of rarity. Our reasons are as follows:

1) Tokens with consistent color & trait combinations are statistically rarer than others.

2) They also tend to look “cleaner” so they most likely work better as profile pictures. We think this is especially great, cause in many PFP projects, the rarest tokens are vivid and intense, even too much at times, visually speaking. Most of the time, our trait system will push things in the opposite direction.

Mask sets

Mask rarities will rely heavily on set mechanics, as most pieces will be of equal rarities, but certain combinations will be very rare!

Omnimorphs masks will be comprised of 4 parts, represented by 8 traits (each mask part has a shape and a color palette).

There will be two possible types of mask sets.

Mask Shape Set

All Omnimorphs masks are created from mixing the pieces of 7 masks that were designed separately and then divided into 4 parts. The more pieces of one particular mask a token has, the rarer it will be.

Mask Color Set

Also, every mask comes in 7 different color palettes. If a mask is all in the same color, that will also constitute a set.

The above numbers mean that there will be a total of 5.764.801 variations for the masks only, not counting the different eye glow effects (with those added, the number is 63.412.811).

There’ll also be some extra surprises on the rarity front, which we’ll only explain after the reveal.

How this works with OmniFusion

Since combinations and not only singular traits will represent rarity, every Omnimorphs will potentially be valuable. A set can be created from two seemingly ordinary tokens easily.

Also, holders will be able to make strategic decisions on how to get the most out of their existing Omnimorphs. We do intend to introduce some mechanics to this system to make fusing a hard, but potentially satisfying decision to make for holders.
